Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club has a very active Junior section overseen by a Junior Convenor from the main committee who can be contacted through the Club.
Junior competitions are regular and well supported with a Club Championship, Medals and club competitions, inter-club matches, an Open Competition and a Ryder Cup style tournament, ensuring that there is a full fixture list for competitive youngsters.
Beginners are very welcome and the Club runs regular coaching sessions to help Junior members learn how to play the game. These coaching sessions are overseen by members who hold recognised coaching qualifications under the "clubgolf" scheme.
A grant of almost £10,000 from clubgolf in 2007 has allowed the Club to improve its practice and training facilities to encourage Juniors to learn the game. The clubgolf grant also enabled the Club to create a new 5 hole "short course" to allow Juniors to develop their golfing skills on their own course before they progress to the "big course". The practice ground now boasts a short game practice area along with driving nets and astroturf which can be used all year round.
New Junior members are always welcome and details of fees and how to join are on the Members/Fixtures page of this website or can be obtained from the Clubhouse.
Introduction to Golf Day
Around 30 local boys and girls enjoyed the recent Junior Introduction To Golf Day. The Club's qualified Clubgolf coaches gave basic instruction and everybody that took part was treated to drinks and a snack before receiving a golf related gift provided by Clubgolf.
Children who took part will be invited to take part in next season's coaching program.
This season almost 30 children have enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the Club's coaching and some of the best achievers are already heading out onto the main course to gain official handicaps and take part in Junior competitions.
